What is the LDWA?

ldwa logo The Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) was founded in 1971 with the aim of furthering the interests of those who enjoy long distance walking. Its interest lies mainly in extended walks in rural areas and especially those walks that exceed 20 miles in length. These can be organised marathons and events, whether open to all or restricted to members of specific clubs or associations, or they can be walks along long distance paths or other open challenges which may be attempted at any time by any individuals or groups. Whilst such walks may be competitive in the sense of a challenge, no emphasis is placed on any form of road or race walking.
