This Powerpoint file was used as an 'interlude' before
the closing ceremony of the 1999 Hidden
Earth conference, to fill the time whilst the stage was being set up.
The idea is not to try to score points and win a prize (its too hard
for that!) but simply to appreciate the different ways 'caving' crops up in
literature.
Credits: Charles Butcher & David
Gibson. Most of the answers to this quiz come from well-known (or fairly
well-known) classical and modern literature. There are also some quotations
from cavers that you might recognise.
This quiz first saw the light of
day in a CUCC expedition logbook. It
was written up for Cambridge Underground 1983 by Chas Butcher. This 1999
version has additional material by Chas, and David Gibson.
